About This Tool

Extract Pages copies the pages you choose from a PDF into a new, separate PDF and leaves the original alone. Select pages by clicking their thumbnails, or type numbers and ranges such as 1-5, 8, 10-12 and click Apply, then press Extract Pages and download the result.

All the selected pages go into a single file, in the order they appear in the original. Clicking page 9 before page 2 does not change that, and a page cannot be included twice. If you want each page or range as its own file, use Split PDF; if you want a different order, rearrange the result in Organize PDF. Select All and Deselect All help with long documents, and thumbnails are drawn for the first 50 pages, with numbered tiles after that.

Page content comes across unchanged, including scanned images and annotations attached to the page. The extracted file is a new document, so the source's bookmarks and properties such as title and author are not included, and it downloads with _extracted added to the name. Encrypted files need unlocking first with Decrypt PDF. To make extracted scans searchable, run them through OCR PDF afterwards.

Extraction happens in your browser tab, and the PDF is not uploaded. It is a quick way to share part of a controlled document, such as the results section of a validation report or one page of a batch record, without sending the whole file; the extract is an uncontrolled copy, so label and handle it under your own procedures.

How to Use

Drop one PDF on the upload area or click to browse. Thumbnails of its pages appear below.

  4. Download

Use the download button to save the new file, which ends in _extracted.pdf.

Use Cases

Pull the pages a supplier needs out of a long technical or validation report and send only those.

Keep the signed pages handy

Save the signature and approval pages of a returned agreement as a separate file for quick reference.

Build a meeting handout

Lift the summary and results pages of a study report into a short file for a review meeting.

Separate an attachment

When a printed email and its attachment were saved as one PDF, extract the attachment pages into their own file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extract pages into separate files?

Not with this tool, which always produces one PDF. To get a file per page or per range, use Split PDF.

Can I change the order of the extracted pages?

The pages are written in their original document order, whatever order you clicked them in. Rearrange the extracted file afterwards with Organize PDF.

Are bookmarks and document properties kept?

No. The extracted file is a new document holding the selected pages, without the source outline or properties such as title and author. The content of each page, including its annotations, is copied.

How do I type a page range?

Separate entries with commas and use a hyphen for ranges, for example 1-5, 8, 10-12, then click Apply to select those pages. Numbers are positions in the file, not printed page labels, and numbers beyond the last page are ignored.

Can I extract from several PDFs at once?

No, it works on one file at a time. To collect pages from several documents, combine them with Merge PDF and then extract from the merged file.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. Scanned pages are copied as they are, image and all, with no text recognition involved. Run the result through OCR PDF if you need searchable text.
