About This Tool
Delete Pages removes the pages you select from a PDF and gives you a shorter copy. Click thumbnails to mark pages, or type numbers and ranges such as 1, 3-5, 8 and click Apply, then press Delete Pages. At least one page has to stay, so the button is disabled if every page is selected.
Unlike the tools that assemble a fresh document, Delete Pages works on a copy of your existing file. The remaining pages, the bookmark outline, form fields and properties such as title and author stay as they were. Bookmarks or fields that belonged to a removed page are not tidied away, so check the outline afterwards. The result downloads with _pages_deleted added to the name, and the success message tells you how many pages are left.
Removing a page takes it out of the document's page list, but the underlying page data is not purged from the saved file. That makes deletion the wrong way to strip confidential content before sharing. Build a new file from the pages you want to keep with Extract Pages instead, and check it before it leaves your hands. To find empty scanned pages automatically, try Remove Blank Pages.
Pages are removed inside your browser tab and the PDF is not uploaded. When trimming draft or superseded pages from a working copy of a report or SOP, keep the full original: deletion only affects the downloaded copy, and it is worth confirming the remaining page count matches what you expected.
How to Use
Add your PDF
Drop one PDF on the upload area or click to browse. Thumbnails appear for the first 50 pages, with numbered tiles after that.
Mark the pages to remove
Click thumbnails, or type pages and ranges into the box and click Apply. Select All and Deselect All are above the grid.
Delete
Click Delete Pages. The warning above the grid reminds you that removal is permanent in the new file and that one page must remain.
Download and check
Download the shorter copy, then open it and check the page count and bookmarks.
Use Cases
Trim blank scan pages
Take out the empty backs of single-sided originals that a duplex scanner captured anyway.
Drop a superseded section
Remove out-of-date pages from a working copy of a document before circulating it for comment.
Keep only the form pages
Strip the guidance notes from a downloaded application pack and keep just the pages to be completed.
Tidy parts before merging
Remove covers and blank backs from each part before combining them with Merge PDF.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I delete every page?
No. At least one page must remain, so the Delete Pages button stays disabled while all pages are selected.
Is a deleted page gone from the file completely?
It is gone from the page list, so no PDF reader will show it, but its underlying data can remain inside the saved file. For pages with confidential content, create a new file from the pages you want to keep with Extract Pages instead.
Do bookmarks and form fields survive?
Yes for the pages you keep, because the tool edits the existing document rather than rebuilding it. Bookmarks or fields that belonged to a removed page are not cleaned up and may no longer work.
Which page numbers do I type?
Physical positions in the file, counting from 1, not the numbers printed on the pages. Separate entries with commas and use a hyphen for ranges, for example 1, 3-5, 8. Numbers beyond the last page are ignored.
Can I get the deleted pages back?
Not from the downloaded copy. Your original file is not changed, so keep it if you might need those pages again.
