Open the tool, free and private

To convert a PDF to JPG, open the PDF to JPG tool, add your PDF, choose the resolution, quality and pages you want, then click Convert to Images. One page downloads as a single JPG file; several pages download together as a ZIP archive. The conversion runs in your browser.

Turning PDF pages into JPG images is useful whenever a PDF will not do: a slide for a presentation, a page preview on a website, an image for a report or a quick picture of a form to share in a chat. This guide walks through the real options in Priya LifePDF, explains what each setting changes and covers the mistakes that most often produce blurry or oversized images.

How to convert a PDF to JPG with Priya LifePDF

  1. Open the tool. Go to PDF to JPG.
  2. Add your PDF. Drag one PDF file onto the upload area or click to browse. The tool converts one PDF at a time.
  3. Set the quality. Use the Quality slider to balance file size against image detail. It starts at 92%.
  4. Choose a resolution. Pick 72, 144, 216 or 288 DPI from the Resolution list. 144 DPI is the default.
  5. Choose the pages. Type a range such as 1-3, 5, 7 in Page Range, or leave it empty to convert every page.
  6. Pick a page layout (optional). Keep 1×1 for one image per page, or choose a grid to place several pages on one image.
  7. Convert. Click Convert to Images and wait for the progress bar to finish.
  8. Download. For a single image, use the download button. For several images, click Download All to save a ZIP file, or hover over a preview to download one image on its own.

What do the PDF to JPG settings do?

Resolution (DPI)

The resolution list sets how many pixels the tool uses to draw each page. At 72 DPI, one PDF point becomes one pixel, so an A4 page comes out at roughly 595 by 842 pixels. The default of 144 DPI doubles both dimensions, 216 DPI triples them and 288 DPI quadruples them. Higher settings give sharper text and finer detail, but the files get much larger, because doubling the resolution means four times as many pixels.

As a rough guide, 72 DPI suits small thumbnails, 144 DPI suits on-screen viewing and most web use, and 216 or 288 DPI suits zooming in, printing or pages with small print.

Quality

JPG is a lossy format: it discards some detail to keep files small. The Quality slider runs from 10% to 100% in steps of 5%. Lower values produce smaller files with visible blocky artefacts around text and sharp edges; higher values keep edges cleaner and produce bigger files. The default of 92% is a sensible starting point for documents.

Page range

Separate single pages with commas and use a hyphen for a run of pages, for example 2-4, 9. Page numbers that do not exist in the document are ignored, and leaving the field empty converts all pages.

Page layout

The Page Layout section can combine several pages into one image. The presets are 1×1 (one page per image), 2×1, 1×2, 2×2 and 3×3, and Custom lets you set up to 10 columns and 10 rows. When a grid is selected, the Without first/cover page option renders the first page as its own image and groups the rest, which works well for a report with a title page. A preview shows how the grid will look before you convert.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Blurry text usually means the resolution is too low, not the quality setting. Try 216 DPI before pushing quality to 100%.
  • Very large images can be slow or fail on low-memory devices. A 3×3 grid at 288 DPI produces a very big picture. Start with the default settings and increase only if you need to.
  • JPG has no transparency. The tool fills the page background with white before drawing it. If you need lossless output, use PDF to PNG instead; for smaller web images, try PDF to WebP.
  • Check the file names in the ZIP. Images are numbered in the order they were created, starting at 1. If you converted pages 5 to 7, the files are named _page_1 to _page_3, so rename them if the original page numbers matter.
  • The output is a picture of the page. Text in a JPG cannot be selected, searched or edited. Keep the original PDF as the reference copy.
  • Want the embedded photos, not the whole page? Extract Images pulls out the pictures stored inside a PDF rather than rendering each page.
  • Going the other way? JPG to PDF turns images back into a PDF.

Is your PDF uploaded when you convert it?

No. Priya LifePDF reads and draws the PDF inside your browser tab, and the JPG files are created on your device. Your document is not uploaded to a server for conversion. You do not have to take that on trust: our guide on how to check if a PDF tool uploads your files shows how to confirm it yourself with the browser's developer tools. Example: turning study figures into slide images

A scientist preparing an internal project update has a PDF export of a stability study summary with several charts, and needs two of those pages as images for a slide deck. With the PDF to JPG tool, they enter the two page numbers in Page Range, choose 216 DPI so the axis labels stay readable when projected, keep quality at 92% and download the ZIP. The confidential summary stays on their laptop throughout.

The images are working copies for a presentation, not controlled records. If a converted page ever needs to form part of a GMP record or a regulatory submission, the conversion and the resulting file should be handled under your own document control procedures. Priya LifePDF is a general-purpose tool, not a validated GxP system; our article on online PDF tools in pharma and GMP work sets out the questions your quality system is likely to ask.

Frequently asked questions

What resolution should I use to convert a PDF to JPG?

144 DPI, the default, suits on-screen viewing and most web use. Choose 216 or 288 DPI if you need to zoom in, print or keep small text readable, bearing in mind the files will be larger.

Can I convert only some pages of a PDF to JPG?

Yes. Type the pages in the Page Range box, for example 1-3, 5, 7. Leave it empty to convert every page.

How do I download all the JPG images at once?

When more than one image is created, click Download All to save them in a single ZIP file. You can also hover over any preview to download that image on its own.

Can I put several PDF pages on one JPG?

Yes. Choose a grid in the Page Layout section, such as 2×2 or 3×3, or set a custom grid of up to 10 columns and 10 rows.
