About This Tool
Sensitive Data Redaction looks for email addresses, phone numbers, ID-style numbers and your own keywords in a PDF's text and draws a black box over each match. It also tries to replace the matching characters in the page, but that only works for simply encoded text, so assume the original text is still in the file.
To remove it, convert the result with Rasterize PDF (PDF output) and search the new file for a redacted value to confirm. Automatic detection can miss formats it does not recognise, so review every page yourself.
The document is processed in your browser tab and is not uploaded. See how to redact a PDF properly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the covered text removed?
Not reliably. The tool tries to replace matching characters, which only works for simply encoded text. Convert the result with Rasterize PDF and search it to be sure.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Only where the scan has an OCR text layer, because detection reads text.
Will it find every piece of personal data?
No. It matches common patterns and your keywords. Review every page yourself before sharing.
