About This Tool
Merge PDF joins two or more PDF files into a single document. You add the files, put them in the order you want by dragging rows or using the arrow buttons, and click Merge PDFs. Every page of each file is copied, in sequence, into one new PDF that you download as merged.pdf.
There is one setting, Preserve bookmarks, and it starts switched on. Despite the name, it does not carry over the bookmarks inside your source files. It builds a fresh outline with one entry per file, titled with the file name and pointing at that file's first page, so rename files before merging if other people will use the bookmark panel.
Pages go across as they are. Nothing is re-compressed, and each page keeps its own size and orientation, so a portrait report and a landscape table can sit in the same file. Because the output is a new document, the title, author and other properties of the originals are not copied, and fillable fields are worth testing, since the form itself is not rebuilt. An encrypted file stops the merge with a message naming it; unlock it with Decrypt PDF first. For scans split into a fronts file and a backs file, Alternate Merge interleaves the pages instead.
The files are read and combined inside your browser tab and are not uploaded to a server, which matters when the bundle is an SOP with its appendices or a set of signed records. The merged PDF is a new copy: keep the source files, and let your document control process decide how the combined version is reviewed and stored.

How to Use
Add your PDFs
Drop two or more PDFs on the upload area or click it to browse. You can pick up to 100 files in one go and add more later.
Set the order
The files appear as a numbered list. Drag a row, or use its up and down arrows, to move it. The cross on a row removes that file, and Clear All empties the list.
Decide on bookmarks
Under Merge Options, leave Preserve bookmarks ticked for one bookmark per file, or untick it for a merged file without an outline.
Merge and download
Click Merge PDFs, follow the progress bar, then use the download button to save merged.pdf and give it a meaningful name.
Use Cases
Compile a review pack
Join a procedure body and its separately exported appendices so reviewers open one file with a bookmark for each part.
Bundle supplier certificates
Combine certificates of analysis that arrived as individual PDFs into one file per delivery for filing.
Assemble a report from chapters
Authors who drafted sections separately can export each one and merge them in chapter order before the final read-through.
Send one attachment instead of ten
Put a scanned form, its supporting evidence and a covering letter into a single file before emailing them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does merging keep the bookmarks already in my PDFs?
No. The outlines inside the source files are not copied. With Preserve bookmarks on, the merged file gets a new outline with one bookmark per source file, named after the file. Add chapter-level bookmarks afterwards with the Edit Bookmarks tool if you need them.
Does merging reduce quality or file size?
Neither. Pages are copied without re-compression, so text and images are exactly as they were, and the result is roughly the size of the parts added together. If it is too large to send, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
Do links and form fields still work after merging?
Web links on a page travel with that page. Links that jump to another page inside an original file, and fillable form fields, may not behave as before, because the merged file is a new document and the original form is not rebuilt. Test them, or use Flatten PDF on the sources first if only the filled-in answers matter.
Why does the merge stop with an encryption message?
One of the files is password-protected, and the message names it. Remove the password with Decrypt PDF, which requires you to know it, then add the unlocked copy again.
How many files can I merge?
Up to 100 files per selection, and you can keep adding more to the list. The tool sets no size cap, but the merge happens in your browser, so very large jobs are limited by the memory on your device.
Can I take only some pages from each file?
No, every page of every file is included. Cut the files down first with Split PDF or Extract Pages, or remove unwanted pages from the merged result with Delete Pages.
