About This Tool
Extract Attachments finds the files embedded in one or more PDFs and lets you save each one. It reads document-level attachments, including the files in a PDF portfolio, and file attachments pinned to a page, which are listed with their page number. Files are saved one at a time; there is no ZIP download.
Each saved file is named after its PDF, then the page number for page attachments, then the attachment's own name, for example report_page3_data.csv. Download All starts the downloads one after another, so your browser may ask whether the site can save several files. Up to 20 PDFs can be added in one go.
Attachments are easy to miss because most viewers keep them in a side panel. Extracting them before a PDF leaves the organisation shows what travels with it, such as a spreadsheet of source data, an earlier draft or an email. Edit Attachments and Sanitize PDF can remove document-level attachments; run this tool on the cleaned copy to confirm that nothing, including page attachments, is left. To add files, use Add Attachments.
Files are copied out with the coherentpdf library in your browser and are not uploaded. The tool does not scan them, so treat attachments from unknown senders with the same care as email attachments. A PDF that cannot be read, which can include a password-protected one, is skipped without a separate warning, and if two attachments in one PDF share a name the saved copies share it too, so your browser may rename one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which attachments are found?
Files embedded at document level, which is how portfolios and most attachment tools store them, and file attachment annotations placed on individual pages. Files that a PDF only links to are not included.
Can I download everything as a ZIP?
No. Download All saves the files one at a time. Your browser may ask whether the site may download several files; allow it to receive them all.
Why does it say no attachments were found?
Either the PDFs have none, or a file could not be read. Unreadable files, which can include password-protected ones, are skipped without a separate warning. Check that the file opens, and remove a password with Decrypt PDF if it has one.
Are the extracted files changed?
No. Each file is saved with the content stored in the PDF, under a name that begins with the PDF's own name.
Is it safe to open extracted files?
The tool only copies them out and does not scan them. Treat attachments from unknown sources as you would email attachments, and use your organisation's security checks.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The PDFs are read and the attachments copied out inside your browser tab.
